Firmware Update Portal

Use this portal to update the firmware on supported EAE products. Refer to the sidebar for instructions.

Please note: As of 8/1/2024 this page is technically still in beta. If you are unsure about your MIDI setup please proceed with caution until the process is fully ironed out. Thanks!

  • Before you start, there's a few important things to know.

    1. If you don't use MIDI or other deeper functions of a pedal, you probably don't have to update your firmware.

    2. Make sure you have a working MIDI interface first. If a MIDI interface can control your pedal from a computer, it will (almost always) work for updates. Be sure to check the list of approved interfaces below.

    3. Refer to the manual for a given product if you want more specific information.

  • Updates require a MIDI interface that can pass long strings of data from your computer to the pedal.

Most audio interfaces used for recording will also have a dedicated MIDI output. These tend to be the most reliable. Brands that have worked for us include Motu, SSL, RME, and UA.

There are also dedicated USB to MIDI interfaces, but not all are reliable.

Interfaces that we have confirmed do not work as of July 2024:
    • Roland UM One
    • Strymon Conduit (but we're working on it)
    • M Audio USB Uno

  • MIDI typically uses a 5-pin DIN cable, but most pedals, including ours, use some form of TRS MIDI. Connectivity varies somewhat by pedal.

    Sending V2:
Sending V2 has a TRS Type A MIDI input. This means you can connect it to a MIDI interface using a DIN to TRS cable (like the one we sell here) and it will work.

    Prismatic Wall:
Prismatic Wall uses what is often called a "Tip Active" jack configuration. You must use a MIDI Box, which is a device that converts DIN MIDI into a TRS format. For MIDI boxes we have had good luck with units made by Disaster Area Designs, Chase Bliss, and Morningstar.

Be sure to configure your MIDI Box correctly for Tip Active MIDI. The Ring connection should be floating or held at 5V.

  • Start with the MIDI cable unplugged. To enter Update Mode, hold down the left footswitch while applying power. Keep holding until the LEDs for Shift and Preset III begin to blink. Then, you may plug in the MIDI cable.

Next, click the Erase button to send the erase command. (Be sure to select Sending V2 in the dropdown menu.) The four buttons should begin to flash back and forth to confirm the operation is complete.

Next, click the Flash button. The button LEDs will strobe while the operation is in process. This should take about a minute.

Once complete, the buttons will again flash back and forth. Now you may power cycle the pedal and it will boot up normally.

  • Start with the MIDI cable unplugged. To enter Update Mode, hold down the left footswitch while applying power. Keep holding until the LEDs for the Aux and Bypass footswitches begin to blink. Then, you may plug in the MIDI cable. NOTE: You must use a MIDI box for this pedal!

Next, click the Erase button to send the erase command. (Be sure to select Prismatic Wall in the dropdown menu.) The preset LEDs will light up to indicate the operation is complete.

Next, click the Flash button. The preset LEDs will strobe from left to right while the operation is in process. This should take about a minute.

Once complete, the Mode LEDs will flash in a circle. Now you may power cycle the pedal and it will boot up normally.

  • Why can't I enter boot mode?

Try power cycling and hold the footswitch down for longer than you think you should. If that doesn't work, enter boot mode with no MIDI cable connected, then plug in the MIDI cable once you are powered up. (Some interfaces send data when they shouldn't.)

    Will I lose my presets?

Our updates are designed to preserve your presets. Only in the event of a significant update would this change, and if it does we will give you ample warning.
